Volunteering
Parent volunteers are critical for us to have a successful summer!
Dive meets are very exciting, for both divers and their families. But we cannot host meets or attend away meets without everyone’s involvement. Families should plan on volunteering at least three times during the season. Volunteering is a great way to meet other families, and the more families we have contributing to the meets, the more enjoyable the meets are for all!
Please Note: Our diving league — MCDL — hosts judge/ref certification clinics. We encourage all families to attend one of these clinics even if you don't plan on being a judge or a ref. These one-of-a-kind information sessions give you an opportunity to learn more about the sport and help your diver make progress!
See below for volunteer clinic dates and times.
Volunteers help in a host of crucial ways:
- before the meet: putting out tents, tables, and chairs, or setting up the sound system;
- during the meet: doing table work, taking photographs, or acting as an announcer, a judge, or a referee; and,
- at the end of the meet: putting away all equipment and materials.
When volunteering for meets, please go to our SignUp Genius page.
Judging
Judges are essential for us to have meets, but you don’t have to have any prior experience or knowledge of the sport to be a judge—you simply have to become certified. Doing so is a great way to get a deeper understanding of diving as the sport, especially for new families. Certifications last for three seasons; if you were certified BEFORE 2022, you will need to re-certify. If you are not sure whether your previous training is still valid, please click HERE.
2025 MCDL Judging Clinics
There is a new, two-step process for becoming a judge this year!
Step 1: Complete the NFHS online training course.
Step 2: Attend an in-person training.
The NFHS training course is an online self-paced session. The in-person training focuses on practical instruction for MCDL dive meets. The online training must be completed prior to attending an in-person training session. Once you complete the online course, you will receive a certificate that you should bring to an in-person training session. You may not participate in in-person training without your certificate of completion. Complete instructions are found at this link: Becoming An MCDL Official.
In-Person Sessions are as follows:
(Judges must renew their certification every three years)
- June 1 (Sunday) 9:00 -10:30 am at Manor Woods Pool
- June 8 (Sunday) 8:15 - 9:45 am at Regency Estates (prior to Rookie Meet)
- June 10 (Tuesday) 6:00 - 7:30 pm at Glenwood
- June 13 (Friday) 6:00 - 7:30 pm at Seven Locks
- June 19 (Thursday) 6:30 - 8:00 pm at Flower Valley
